Today I want to show you a super nice home tour. A House that I’ve found in the portfolio of Studio D11. Later I found out that it even in the NRC and the platform ‘ the Architect ‘. And rightly so!

It is an old former soap factory from Delft. After 310 years of service to have done as an industrial factory, it was closed in 2003. Led by SG architects was then thoroughly restored, then a commuter home. The main disadvantage of the House was that the ground floor was a fairly dark room. As a result, it remained empty for a long time.

Practical layout and more light

Too bad! That was also what the family Hammond thought. The family, however, saw the potential in it and bought the House in 2012. Around the House more practical and convertible, and also to provide more light, the ground floor was Studio D11 enabled.

The desire was to make the House more practical. The ground floor had to be the living and living space, and the family wanted to make a logical connection between the different functions with additional direct daylight on the ground floor was the most important.

The designers and architects have these desires solved by on the first floor the hood and the rear side to build something, leaving room for the new staircase. This staircase, designed by designer Derk Thomassen connects the living room with the master bedroom on one side and with the roof terrace on the other side. In addition, these stairs for extra light to the ground floor. Two birds with one stone.

Authentic, atmospheric and warm

The Interior is particularly turned white, consisting of white walls and a tight white cast floor on the ground floor. Thanks to the combination with wood, which is an important material is in the House, the atmosphere is very authentic, cozy and warm. Not only are the beautiful old wooden ceiling beams have been preserved. For example, there is also chosen for a large wooden dining table and a wooden cabinet in the kitchen. The large open kitchen is one of my favorite areas.
