Who is Rosa Zielstra?
Together with Joost -with whom I almost 10 years together benzoic I have two daughters: Vicky (5) and Stine (2) and we live in Voorburg, at The Hague. I am trained as a communications and also have some 10 years my profession made them both within the government and in business. In recent years, I worked as a brand manager for a paint brand, as is my love for interior very grown. I worked a lot with living magazines and discovered in that period pinterest. All those living ideas! We lived then with the four of 90m2, a lot of creativity, I could not lose. Last summer we moved to a jaren30 house in the old town of Voorburg, where I could finally loose with everything there was to brew the field of wallpaper and paint particles and and and …!
What do you do in everyday life?
A year ago I decided my job as a brand manager at a multinational company to terminate! Not because they did not like the job (the job was fantastic and I had very nice colleagues), but because I suddenly had such a strong desire to see my children grow up every day. An exciting step for how it will look like in practice? Would I be sorry? The fear of not trying to get conquered and now we are a year further regret. And it is delicious! No complicated schedules, no stress when one is sick, every afternoon tea and school stories and cycling. The social isolation which I was afraid of, never came. Girlfriends (with or without children) I see every week but there is now more time to hang out with retired grandfathers and grandmothers. I experience this as a very valuable and loving period.
How does your day look like?
The last thing I want as stayathomemommie ‘is verslonsen. You will not jogging suit and makeup uploos see me in the schoolyard. We have morning so a strict regime where everyone is prepared for school and work. I bring along with Stine Vicky to school, then start our day. We have once a week gym, we see at least once a week grandfather (s) and grandmother (s), and once a week I see a friend who also withdrew its job to be with her sons. With her I daydream about a desire we share to do something in Voorburg. For the time being is that dreams and a little scheming blacksmiths, who knows that once concrete!
When I stopped working, I have immediately become a freelancer. I am a freelance writer and occasionally I do a job. But never at the expense of my time with the girls!
Stine is since a few weeks to preschool two mornings, I use moments to knit, to work or what -horror horror to do anything in the household. Not my specialty.
And your day off?
The weekends are sacred four of us. On Saturday morning -after zwemes- we go to the market to buy nice things for the weekend. If we do not have much social “obligations” we play games, we bike rides and we cook expanded. Sunday morning is our only lazy morning in the week. We often stay long in pajamas or a very long bathed. There is usually at weekends also a moment when I just loskom of our family, I am speaking in the city with friends or do I do something for myself. Sometimes I have to force myself to do so, and I also find it wonderful to get away. I happen to love my family and our home, so his home is simply not a punishment!
What means your interior to you?
I can not remember me differently than I wanted to make it cozy. In my room earlier at home with my mother, I wanted example as a small Christmas tree. I had already invested in living things. So I bought a gold frame at the Beehive, they sold as window material. That list is still a gem, but now for my daughters. Also my student in Utrecht was snug. Very small, when I had to choose a cozy bench or desk I chose a bench! Examinations learn I did on my bed, haha!
How would you describe your interior?
In the course of the years, it is my taste changed. Fewer small stuff, invest in some nice things. And preferably always with a story. So our dining table is made from old sleepers of the Hague track. This table was formerly with my parents. A former chair of my grandmother and paintings by my grandfather.
I also notice that I find beautiful Scandinavian design. But then again combined with other influences. I see devices pass by on Instagram, which are redeemable for another 30 other houses of instagrammers! White, Scandinavian, shades of gray, white, and did I mention white? For me a rule: once the quanta and Loan Bakeries pick the hype and ‘Scandinavian design’ to sell, then it is time to move on
If you just could take one thing to your next home, what would you take?
Our kitchen. Every inch we have made-up, it’s totally our taste. And he is so great! Cooking it is a party.
Where do you get your inspiration for your home?
I shifted from pinterest and the magazines to instagram. Yet there are a few inspirational types on me! So cool to see how they think outside the box and do. It’s just a handful, but they are all authentic (mostly) women. Precisely because they are so authentic, they inspire me greatly. At the interior, but also beyond.
What’s your favourite home interior shop?
Delft there was Femkeido. She moved last month to … ..Voorburg! I can not believe my luck! Wonderful wallpaper (eg Cole & amp; Son) but also the most beautiful benches. In the window there is a yellow bench: all the end. Saving up some money. And probably only when the girls go rooms, because if that’s what it a glass of chocolate milk over …
Your advice for the reader?
Be authentic in your taste. Do not copy blindly that white Scandinavian interior you see passing by. You think it’s beautiful: just do it! But then give your own twist to it. Make it your own and then be happy in your original home!
