Today I want you to look inside the home of James van der Velden. James has its own interior design firm called Bricks, now beautiful projects to his credit. And one of those projects is his own home in Amsterdam. Indeed, he has an old garage completely rebuilt into a tough loft, with front still a garage for his own car.
Industrial furniture
All spaces are separated by glass walls with black steel industrial frames. Along with industrial concrete floor, combined with concrete walls and ciré industrial lamps, the designer has created a super tough base. There are also large skylights placed so it is nice and light in the house.
Sometimes you’ll apartments and houses at certain areas where there really stand out. But here, all rooms are equally beautiful and special. The living room with open kitchen is fantastic. And also the bedroom with adjacent bathroom look impressive. Even the garage has been given the same look and feel as the rest of the interior.
Unique antique furniture
Despite the concrete floor and concrete ciré walls, the interior is not raw and chilly. On the contrary, James is a true collector, which markets, auctions and traders through the most unique finds, antique furniture and accessories, for its interior. Vintage couches in the living room, for example magnificent, like the great Persian rug, many old suitcases and trunks, the chairs in the bedroom and huge collection of beautiful pictures and paintings.
