In addition to interior designers, architects or interior just junkies, I always like to look at in real creators. Designers in general, for example, photographers or musicians. Today I take you with me to take a look at the home of Maurice Scheltens and his wife Liesbeth Abbenes. A Dutch photography duo in a newly renovated home studio and live in Amsterdam.
The building was formerly used as a potato storage silo, then as a storage area for trade and finally was appointed as a linoleum store. With the help of an architect, who is also a cousin of Elizabeth, they have transformed into a house and studio combination. Although Maurice and Elizabeth often tend to send anything, the architect has largely the same vision.
None of what you see in the house is original. For example, the property had no walls. Especially since the studio and house had to be really separate rooms, the walls were really necessary. “When the children come home at the end of the day, it’s really over with concentration. And that’s good because we can give them the attention they demand. We have one rule and that is that we never work on Wednesday. “Says Maurice.
Industrial rugged interior
The atmosphere of the interior decoration is similar to their old home. Industrial tough combined with stylish furniture and accessories. The high ceiling is amazing with the wooden beams. Both pipes and industrial lighting hang on here. The brick walls look pretty cool, especially in combination with the concrete and black steel pillars.
Mix of styles
Many furniture and various accessories and plants they have just moved along. It is a blend of different styles that form one beautiful whole together. It is therefore very difficult for me to show what I like best. Everything is beautiful. The large painting on the white wall for example, forms a good combination with the tough green couch. But the vintage dining table and cabinet see are all beautiful.
Maurice: more is the color palette on the walls and the paint from Farrow & Ball, the lights of Delta Light and we have a carpet of Scholten & Baijings, a Dutch duo, we regularly work with.
Maurice: verder is het kleurenpallet op de muren en de verf van Farrow & Ball, de lampen van Delta Light en we hebben een tapijt van Scholten & Baijings, een Nederlands duo, waar we regelmatig mee samenwerken.
