As you probably already knew, we were a while ago, looking for a new home. Because we were expecting but it seemed easier to stop the search. A move and a pregnancy is not a good combination. Now the little there is, we want to continue our house hunting. And very secretly, we have a house on the eye. A super nice house includes a small garden!
A garden was one of our wishes for our next home. At least, we wanted to have a slightly larger outdoor area adjacent to the kitchen or living room. In this way, for example, it is also more practical to maintain a BBQ. And that being the case at the house that we have in mind.
In The Design Files I came from a garden, which is a great source of inspiration for us. Not so much the design or layout of the garden itself, but rather the way the living room adjacent to the garden.
Garden to the living room
The garden is inspired by Kim Victoria, a jeweler from Melbourne who along with her husband Stuart Bear in a super nice renovated cottage lives. They lived there for ten years, until they decided to rebuild the once sharply. One of the changes that they have made the garden, and the way you can reach the garden from the living room.
Folding doors
The entire outside wall in the living room they have completely removed and replaced by so-called concertina doors. Something I had written back in a little while. They are of those super cool doors that you completely by sliding it open, similar to the sliding of a harmonica. If these accordion doors are opened completely is the garden like an extension of your living room and you can enjoy the outdoor space. We want it so well!
We just need to have a look at our budget and what the cost is, because I think it will not be cheap.
Kim and Stuart have their garden fully lined with wooden decking. They also have the same wooden platforms designed a rugged solid bench. Beautiful!
